We have moved and are decreasing the trailers that have housed Town Hall 

from four to three!

This move is another good sign of progress. It’s getting us closer to being in more permanent modulars on the grounds of Bay Oaks Recreational Campus in a few weeks while plans for a permanent Town Hall building proceed.

UPDATE on intersection of Estero Boulevard and Crescent Street

Crews will pave the intersection of Estero Boulevard and Crescent Street beginning at 7:30 p.m. through 6 a.m., November 18, 2023. Roads will be re-open before 6 a.m.

One-way alternating traffic patterns will be implemented, or motorists will be redirected to adjacent streets. Flaggers will direct motorists.

Jacobs Project Management Company contracted for building services

To increase service delivery to property owners who are rebuilding after Hurricane Ian, the Town has contracted with Jacobs Project Management Company for permitting, inspections, and building plan reviews. 

“Contracting these services brings more personnel in-house to help raise the bar to give the community what it needs to build back faster,” said Town Manager Andy Hyatt. “The first inspector from Jacobs performed 27 inspections his first day on the job which was just a day after the contract was signed.”

Jacobs is providing personnel, some full-time and some part-time, which will include a chief building official and permit technicians. These personnel will work with the current 13 Town staff who are permit and zoning technicians, planners, a floodplain manager, an inspector, and administrative support in the Community Development Department. 

“Jacobs brings a world of knowledge and resources to the Town of Fort Myers Beach,” said Jacobs City Services Director Deyanna Respress. “We will help expedite recovery and rebuilding by applying proven best practices and technologies. Our goal is to bring our expertise in construction, engineering, and inspections to help build a stronger community for years to come and enable Town officials to focus on residents’ needs.”

Steve Poposki, former Community Development Director, has been promoted to Town Engineer. Poposki is also a certified Building Official and Electrical Inspector and will continue to support Building Services as needed. Frankie Kropacek is the Town’s Director of Operations and Compliance and will continue to oversee the Community Development Department.
