Thanks FMB Community Foundation!

We were pleased to host the FMB Community Foundation at Mound House on October 18 for its membership meeting. Jeff Hauge, Director of Culture, Parks and Recreation, gave an update about various Town restoration projects.

Jeff was especially thrilled and grateful to accept a check from President Julie Fite and the members for $9,500! Wow! This money will be used for equipment to be restored in the concession stand at the Little League Ball Field at Bay Oaks. Thank you so much FMB Community Foundation!

One bit of news Jeff shared was about Newton Beach Park. It will continue to be an educational park when it can be restored. Planning is underway but nothing’s solid yet. The space is being used through May 2024 as storage for sand that is part of the beach renourishment project. However, some amenities will likely be able to be restored before then

Vice Mayor Jim Atterholt shared some great news about CVS today

"I met with the CVS leadership team this morning on Fort Myers Beach.  Tremendous progress is being made and the target opening date is December 15th of this year.  An expanded pharmacy is being built with a private consultation area being installed for patients and pharmacist to meet and administer shots.  The color of the exterior building is actually unchanged as the original building had not been painted for 22 years and the color had faded.  CVS, the Town and the Fire Department are working very well together and we are extremely thankful and encouraged that CVS will be reopening soon!"
