[ARCHIVED] Lee County sand cleanup operations Fort Myers Beach to pause temporarily to focus on debris cleanup

FMB Informed

Residents who live along Estero Boulevard and Hickory Boulevard are asked to stop placing sand in the right of way as of today while Lee County’s debris removal contractor shifts focus to residential debris cleanup on Friday, Nov. 1.

The county plans to return to make a final pass for sand placed in the right of way once residential debris is removed from the two main county roads – Estero Boulevard in Fort Myers Beach and Hickory Boulevard in Bonita Springs. The county will announce a date for a final pass for sand collection in November.

Residents of Fort Myers Beach and Bonita Springs, who do not live along Estero Boulevard or Hickory Boulevard, are advised to reach out to their local city hall for any debris collection questions. For the Town of Fort Myers Beach, visit www.fortmyersbeachfl.gov. For the City of Bonita Springs, visit www.cityofbonitasprings.org

Residents with questions can call Lee County Solid Waste customer service at 239-533-8000. Additional information is available at www.leegov.com/storm

Commercial property owners of sites such as industrial parks, golf courses, cemeteries, apartments, condominiums and trailer parks are reminded that Lee County is not responsible for collecting their storm debris. Per FEMA, those property owners are expected to work with their insurance providers to cover the cost of debris removal.
