Community Development Director Steve Poposki has been promoted to Town Engineer. He will work with Andy Hyatt, Town Manager, and Frankie Kropacek, Director of Operations and Compliance, to manage the various projects in the Town’s ongoing recovery from Hurricane Ian. Steve will also oversee the Utilities Department.
Frankie has temporarily assumed the responsibilities of the Community Development Department including building services, permitting, short term rentals, and zoning.
The restoration projects that Steve will be helping to oversee include:
- New Town hall
- Temporary Town Hall
- Bay Oaks Rec Center
- Newton Beach Park
- Town-wide lighting
- Pool and pool buildings
- Stormwater system repairs
Steve is nearly finished with a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Florida Gulf Coast University. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan and has held community development director, building official, inspector, and plans examiner positions in the Fort Myers area for the past six years. Prior to these positions, he held leadership roles in real estate, development, sales, and manufacturing, in Michigan.
Frankie has more than 30 years of experience in local, county and state government administration ranging from contracts, contract negotiation, procurement, and project management to organizational administration. He attended the University of Wisconsin Whitewater studying Geology and Geophysics.
